October 2009
Pumpkins, the trip to the Pumpkin Patch, and Fall in general are the theme of the October projects in the Tech Lab.
The fifth grade worked on a “Monster Project”. Each child created an original monster and wrote a description of that monster. A student from the other class then tried to draw the monster based on the description. The student then created a PowerPoint Presentation with the monsters, descriptions, and final monsters. It was very interesting to see how close the second monster was to the first one. The students also demonstrated what they learned aboutbackgrounds and animations in their PowerPoint.
September 2009
Kindergarten learned all about The Hungry Caterpillar, so we just had to make caterpillars in computer class using Kidpix. We continue to work on fine motor skills and mouse control.
First and Second Graders were learning about Johnny Appleseed in their classroom this month. so we drew pictures in Kidpix and wrote about him.
Third and Fourth grade made pictures in Kidpix showing their favorite part of Fall.
Fifth grade used their creativity to make Fall Acrostics
Sixth Grade began working in Microsoft Excel. They learned how to enter data into a spreadsheet and then make a chart. See how each student used their own creativity to design a unique chart to share their data.
August 2009
Our younger students used the program Kidpix to create a self portrait. It will be interesting to see how their mouse skills improve when we do this activity again in May.
Self Portraits – Mrs. Redden’s Kindergarten Class
Self Portraits – Mrs. Burden’s Class
Self Portraits – Mrs. Rutland’s 1st Grade
Some of our other students also used Kidpix, but they drew pictures of the computer and some of it’s parts. In August all of the classes started the year learning about the different parts of the computer. You can check out the pictures below.
